Google is doing their clean up of their services, and Google Buzz is the next one to get the axe, among other services. Google Buzz will be decommissioned in a few weeks together with the Buzz API (November 14th 2011).

Other services that will be phased out on January 15th 2012 includes: Code Search, Jaiku, iGoogle Social featuresUniversity Research Program for Google Search.

Focus, and making Google lean once again. Will anyone miss any of these services?

Do you have what it takes to host a YouTube channel showcasing the latest in consumer technologies, local news and events, as well as content aimed at engaging social media users? Do you have the personality to become the next Social Media Star of SingTel?

Open to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, the casting call will be run on SingTel’s Facebook page from October 15 to November 8 2011. The winner will walk away with a $10,000 cash prize and a contract to host the YouTube programme.

If you’re interested, submit a photo, short video introduction, and bio of yourself. The judging panel will consist of SingTel senior executives, as well as popular local bloggers and celebrities. Out of all the public submissions, only  20 will be selected. After that, only one winner will be selected by public voting (30%), and celebrity judges and  SingTel senior executives (70%).
