Shop and Pay On-the-Go by PayPal Piloting in Singapore

Is this the first step to a hybrid physical and online shopping? PayPal has started piloting this new “Shop and Pay On-the-Go” where you can scan the QR code on advertisement boards in any 15 subway stations in Singapore.

The merchants involved in the pilot are Ban Choon Marketing, Charles & Keith, City Tours, EpiCentre, FarEastFlora, Phillip Wain, Resorts World Sentosa, and Showbiz.

I really hope it will go beyond just these few merchants and into grocery shopping (with free delivery) like how Korea does it.

The 15 subway stations where the QR code layouts are:

  1. Orchard
  2. City Hall
  3. Raffles Place
  4. Somerset
  5. Holland Village
  6. Pasir Ris
  7. Serangoon
  8. Tiong Bahru
  9. Toa Payoh
  10. Bugis
  11. Tanjong Pagar
  12. Esplanade
  13. Dhoby Ghaut
  14. Bras Basah
  15. Choa Chu Kang
