DBS Bank recently created a new campaign called “DBS Places” – the very first regional campaign that makes use of Facebook Places and Check-in Deals – to continually evolve the way in which DBS bank interacts with its customers and merchant partners. There are altogether 5 cities available for you to check-in from – Hong Kong, Taipei, Mumbai, Singapore and Jakarta.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Like DBS Facebook fan page to get started (http://www.facebook.com/dbs).
  2. Register yourself with the DBS Places app (http://www.facebook.com/dbs?sk=app_224458777596784)
  3. Use a mobile phone to check in to the various DBS Places in order to gain points to win. Use the Facebook app or the web browser, as long as it supports Facebook Places.
  4. While checking-in, you can check out the deals of the place and redeem them.

Here’s how you check in:

When you go into the iPhone app, head to the Places and Check-In. For DBS Places to show up, you need to search for “DBS Places” in order for the places to turn up.

Select the place you want to check-in and check in. Several DBS Places with the “yellow notepad” will give you an offer. Once you’ve checked in, just click on “Claim your deal” and show the deal on your phone to the staff and you’ll be able to claim it, as seen below.

This campaign ends on 5th September, and the highest point earner of each country will earn a three day two night vacation of their choosing to Singapore, Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia or Taiwan.

This video showcases the new copy, move, rename functionalities on Windows 8. All pending copy operations will appear in one dialog, where users can pause, stop and resume any job, while monitoring data transfer rates on a real-time throughput graph. Renaming now opens up a new dialog that displays thumbnail images of source files directly alongside pre-existing documents of the same name.

Looks like the Mac OS X “grouped” dialog on steroids when you copy or move any files in Mac OS X. I personally like the real-time throughput graph and the ability to pause and resume any of the jobs. What do you think?

I recently had to install Samsung Kies on my Mac OS X Lion, and apparently the latest version doesn’t want to be installed on the Mac OS X Lion, stating that this OS is not supported. In order to get the latest version to work with your Mac OS X Lion, you’ll have to download the older version of Samsung Kies and install it.

Launch the Samsung Kies app, go to “Preferences > Update” and update your Samsung Kies app to the latest version. It’ll just take a few minutes depending on your internet connection speed. After a bit of churning, it should be installed and you’re good to connect your Samsung device.

Download KiesMac_1.0.0.11055_7.dmg. Latest version as of writing is KiesMac_1.0.0.11081_4_1.dmg.
