Adobe’s ‘Awesomize your Holidays‘ Contest is a simple contest where you upload a photo to this app called the Awesomizer and use the app to enhance the photo. Following that, all you need to do is to share your “Awesomized” picture on the Adobe SEA Facebook Page wall. The entries will be judged and the winner will be selected by representatives of Adobe.

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

  • 2nd prize: Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 10 & Adobe® Premiere® Elements 10

RIM Unveils BlackBerry BBX – a Next Generation Platform for BlackBerry Smartphones and Tablets

BlackBerry BBX is the next generation mobile platform that takes the best of the BlackBerry platform and the best of the QNX platform to connect people, devices, content and services.

The BlackBerry BBX platform will include BBX-OS, and will support BlackBerry cloud services and development environments for both HTML5 and native developers. BBX will also support applications developed using any of the tools available today for the BlackBerry PlayBook – including Native SDK, Adobe AIR/Flash and WebWorks/HTML5, as well as the BlackBerry Runtime for Android Apps – on future BBX-based tablets and smartphones.

Sneak Peaks into new Adobe Technology – Videos from Adobe MAX

Remember the awesome image deblurring technology Adobe showed off during Adobe MAX 2011? Check out the video above. The official videos from Adobe is now available for consumption.

The sneaks are intended to give Adobe MAX 2011 attendees a look at future technologies. These technologies may, or may not, make it into future versions of Adobe products. The demos are currently being hosted on AdobeTV, and include:

  • Image Deblurring – removing blurriness from digital photos caused by camera shake while the pictures were being taken;
  • Local Layer Ordering – a new way for graphic designers to create layered compositions that better reflect the way real world objects act;
  • InDesign Liquid Layout – using InDesign to create high quality magazines that automatically adapt layouts across devices and screen orientation;
  • Near Field Communications in Adobe AIR – using Adobe AIR to create applications that communicate with the physical world;
  • Automatic Synchronization of Crowd Sourced Videos – synchronizing video clips taken with different cameras and from different vantage points into a single immersive video;
  • Reverse Debugging in Flash Builder – the ability to step backwards in time while debugging a Flash application to better find the root cause of bugs;
  • RubbaDub – automatically replacing the dialog of a video clip with separately recorded audio with perfect synchronization;
  • Pixel Nuggets – searching through a large library of images by identifying images that contain the same people, backgrounds, landmarks, etc.;
  • Monocle – a new visual tool to help developers find and fix performance problems in Flash applications;
  • Video Meshes – an entirely new way to edit videos, including the ability to create 3D fly-throughs of 2D videos and change focus and depth of field;
  • GPU Parallelism – using a device’s graphic processing unit (GPU) to accelerate performance of general purpose computing.
I’m excited for the future of Adobe, and the possibilities of what the creative industry can gain from all these new technologies.

You know those impossible TV-magic image sharpening software that FBI agents seem to all have and use whenever they have a super low resolution zoomed up image and they try to sharpen it? Well, this isn’t it. But it’s close enough. This new feature, and we all secretly hope it’ll be out in the next version of Photoshop, will take your blurry image and unblurs it. Even blurry text can now be unblurred to make it readable.

Amazing. I want.

Adobe Flash Player 11 and Adobe AIR 3 introduces Stage 3D, adds support for theater-quality HD video, native 64-bit optimizations, high-quality HD video conferencing, and a powerful, flexible architecture for leveraging native device and platform capabilities. Adobe AIR 3 adds a mass of developer features allowing for further integration into OS capabilities like light sensors and gyroscopes, as well as simpler install process.

Adobe Touch Apps – 6 Apps for Android Tablet and iPad

Adobe Photoshop Touch lets users transform images with core Photoshop features in an app custom-built for tablets. With simple finger gestures, users can combine multiple photos into layered images, make popular edits and apply professional effects. The tablet-exclusive Scribble Selection Tool allows users to easily extract objects in an image by simply scribbling on what to keep and then what to remove. With Refine Edge technology from Adobe Photoshop, even hard-to-select areas with soft edges, such as hair, are easily captured when making selections. Additionally, the apphelps users quickly find images, share creations, and view comments through integration with Facebook and Google Search. Using the syncing capabilities that are a component of AdobeCreative Cloud, files can be opened in Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Collage helps creatives capture and refine ideas and concepts by allowing them to combine inspirational images, drawings, text and Creative Suite files into modern, conceptual mood boards. Features include importing of images, four customizable pen types for drawing, adding text, and applying color themes. A virtually unconstrained canvas grows as needed to accommodate more assets.  Files can be shared or transferred for access in Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Debut allows users to present designs to clients and stakeholders virtually anywhere. Adobe Debut quickly opens tablet-compatible versions of Creative Suite files for convenient and beautiful viewing on the tablet, including Photoshop layers and Illustrator® art boards. Feedback is gathered using a markup pen tool to add notes and drawings on top of the work.

Adobe Ideas is an easy-to-master, vector-based tool for drawing. By using a stylus or finger, strokes appear smooth at any zoom level. Starting with a blank canvas, users can choose color themes, and pull in tablet-compatible image files that can be controlled as separate layers. Finished results are easily accessed in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.

Adobe Kuler makes it easy to generate color themes that can inspire any design project. Color can be explored and discovered, with hundreds of thousands of Kuler themes already available via the creative community. Social engagement in the community is enhanced by rating and commenting on themes, which can be exported as color swatches for Adobe Creative Suite projects.

Adobe Proto enables the development of interactive wireframes and prototypes for websites and mobile apps on a tablet. Ideas are communicated and shared with teams and clients using a touch-based interface. Gestures quickly express a design concept, explain website structure or demonstrate interactivity. The wireframe or prototype then can be exported as industry standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and shared in popular browsers for immediate review and approval.

Adobe Touch Apps will be available for Android devices in November 2011. Adobe expects to make an announcement regarding iOS availability in early 2012.

Adobe Ideas is already available for the iPad. Introductory pricing is US$9.99 for each app. Access to the file viewing, sharing and transfer functionality of Adobe Creative Cloud is included in the price of each Adobe Touch App.

With Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5, media publishers are able to expand their mobile reach via Flash-enabled devices and deliver content to Apple’s iPad and iPhone devices. Additionally, Adobe Flash Access 3.0 will enable content owners to deliver on-demand content with massive scale and strict studio-level security across a broad range of devices. The launch of these two solutions are aimed at streamlining the creation to delivery workflow for developers and publishers.

New features of Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5:

  • Delivery to iPad and iPhone enables businesses to use the same media and live streams to deliver full adaptive bit-rate experiences to platforms supporting Flash, as well as Apple devices, including iPad and iPhone.
  • Integrated Content Protection simplifies deployment and reduces infrastructure cost, enabling seamless streaming for advertising-funded online video.
  • On-demand Stream Packaging eliminates the need to prepare and protect assets ahead of time, reducing complexity and storage costs and simplifying publishing for businesses so they can use one set of source video to reach multiple downstream devices.

New features of Adobe Flash Access 3.0:

  • Support on Mobile Devices will include Android tablets and smartphones, as well as other mobile devices.
  • Scalable License Delivery and in-band Key Rotation enables Multichannel Video Programming Distributors (MVPDs) and programmers to offer television experiences over IP, whether over the open Internet or on a managed network, at massive scale.
  • Compatibility with Industry Standards including UltraViolet, an industry-standard cloud-based digital rights locker system that will allow consumers to create personal virtual video libraries and access them across multiple devices.
