The iPhone 4 was announced last night with an obscene amount of features, major changes to the hardware, and of course as we all know, iPhone OS 4 which is now renamed iOS 4.

Here are the features covered during the keynote:

Feature 1: New hardware design

2 aluminosilicate glass on the front/back with a stainless steel band around it that also functions as an antenna. Dual microphones noise canceling for a clear voice.

Feature 2: New Retina display

IPS for great viewing angle. The 3.5″ multi-touch 960-by-640 backlit LCD display with 800:1 contrast ratio boasts a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest-resolution phone screen ever.

Feature 3: A4 chip + more battery life

The A4 chip found in your iPad will be on your iPhone 4. This enables longer battery life, at 7 hours of talk time, 6 hours of internet use, 10 hours of video playback, 40 (1 2/3 days) hours of audio playback, 300 hours (12.5 days) on standby.

Feature 4: Three Axis Gryoscope

A new hardware, the Gryoscope, also found in your Wii controller, will provide developers with much better control over the roll, pitch, and yaw of your iPhone 4. This allows more possibilities of new types of games and applications on the iPhone 4.

Feature 5: 5 MP Camera + LED Flash + 5X digital zoom + Backside Illuminated sensor + 720p video + iMovie

Better pictures and video. Not that interesting, but at least it makes this new iPhone 4 better to produce content.

Feature 6: iOS 4

Multi-tasking. Enough said.

Feature 7: iBooks on iPhone

Those without iPads, you’re not left out.

Feature 8: iAds

More data usage on your Telco’s data network. Let’s hope it wouldn’t over-stress our existing infrastructure and make the experience bad.

Feature 9: FaceTime (video chat)

Long awaited, but only available on iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 using WiFi, not available for 3G.

In Singapore?
