I just installed Windows 8 Developer Preview, and below is a photo walkthrough of majority of the screens while installing Windows 8. It’s still a little buggy especially during the Live ID Login portion (went through the login process twice), but other than that everything seems to be pretty smooth. You can download the ISOs at http://dev.windows.com. You can view the gallery on my Picasa too.

Mouse Without Borders allows you to use your mouse and keyboard to reach across up to 4 of your PC’s as if they were part of one single desktop. With Mouse Without Borders, you can move your mouse between multiple screens, even though they might be attached to a different PC from each other. What’s more, you can also move files between the various PCs simply by dragging them from one desktop to another. Additional options include locking all PCs or logging in on all at once.

Mouse Without Borders is a Microsoft The Garage project, in which Microsoft employees come together after work to build and invent.

This video showcases the new copy, move, rename functionalities on Windows 8. All pending copy operations will appear in one dialog, where users can pause, stop and resume any job, while monitoring data transfer rates on a real-time throughput graph. Renaming now opens up a new dialog that displays thumbnail images of source files directly alongside pre-existing documents of the same name.

Looks like the Mac OS X “grouped” dialog on steroids when you copy or move any files in Mac OS X. I personally like the real-time throughput graph and the ability to pause and resume any of the jobs. What do you think?

NSS Labs,an independent security research and testing organization, released two reports which show that SmartScreen continues to offer the industry leading protection against socially engineered malware. According to the global NSS report, IE9 caught an exceptional 96% of the live threats with SmartScreen URL reputation, and an additional 3.2% with Application Reputation.

The other reports looked at socially engineered malware targeted towards people living in the Asia Pacific region and in Europe. In each region the results remained consistent – Internet Explorer 9 maintains a lead in protecting users from live threats.

Internet Explorer 9 is designed with your security and privacy in mind. Innovative features such as SmartScreen and Application Reputation are examples of technologies that help protect you as you browse from an increasingly prevalent threat – socially engineered malware.

ScriptTD is an open source project that allows anyone to easily create a new Tower Defense game for the Windows Phone 7 platform, without any prior programming knowledge by changing settings, sounds, and graphics. These games can then be sold in the Zune Marketplace. Developers can also extend out the engine to handle new features and game styles.

Great for kids to get into game programming on their Windows Phone 7 phones.
