ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime is the world’s first tablet featuring the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor and to be unveiled with Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which will be available through an over-the-air update on 12 January 2012.

First Thoughts:

I love how amazingly light (586g), slim (8.3mm), and extremely responsive the device is.
Up to 12 hours of battery life, with 18 hours when coupled with the docking station.
Super IPS+ screen with 600 nits of brightness – in comparison with the ~400 nits on the iPhone and iPad.
8 MP (f/2.4) rear camera + 1.3 MP front camera – coupled with ICS new camera features like panorama, the camera actually is useable.
The sound (SonicMaster technology) is clear and loud, however the speakers are behind so you’ll still have to cup the speakers to hear the audio properly.
The NVIDIA Tegra 3 comes with 4-core CPU + 12 core GPU + 1 extra CPU core for low-power processing. This essentially allows the battery life to last up to 12 hours.
It is 3D capable. Plug in your Transformer Prime into a 3D capable monitor or TV and you can display your games in 3D (with those 3D glasses) while the games are playing in normal 3D (think 3D flattened to 2D) on your Transformer Prime.
My verdict? This is the best buy EVER Android ICS tablet for now (yes, even better than Motorola XOOM 2).

Next 2 key features of the Sony Tablet S is Connectivity and Entertainment. The Sony Tablet S wirelessly connects to DLNA compatible devices, such as Sony BRAVIA televisions, so users can “throw” their favourite photos and movies onto a big screen for greater enjoyment with friends, family and that special one. A built-in infrared sensor also allows the Sony Tablet S to function as a remote control.

The Sony Tablet S is also the first series of PlayStation Certified tablets on which original PlayStation games like Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes can be played anytime and anywhere. There’s actually more entertainment available like music, video and e-books, but there’s no word on whether if it will be available in Singapore.

P.S. So far from what we’ve seen on all Android Honeycomb devices, touch-responsiveness has been very bad even though they all run on pretty much the same Tegra 2 hardware. I’ll be surprised if Sony Tablet S will be any different.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a hybrid tablet and netbook that comes with 9.5 hours (w/o docking station) + 6.5 hours (w docking station) battery life. It will be available in Singapore from 3rd May 2011 with a launch retail price of S$799 (Usual Price: S$898) for the 16GB WiFi only + docking station and S$699 for the 16GB WiFi only with an optional docking station retailing at S$199. 32GB WiFi versions will be available from middle to the end of may. WiFi + 3G versions will be available in 2nd or 3rd week of June. The Asus Eee Pad Transformer will be available at the following retail shops: Harvey Norman, Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Newstead, Digital Asia, South Asia, Microware, MC2 and most of Asus authorized retailers in Sim Lim Square and Funan.
