I did this talk at this year’s Community Technology Update 2012 at Blk 71 on 7th January 2012. Apparently, HTML5 is the highlight for the Developer Track.

HTML5 is the next wave of development for the web, with the support from IE9 and IE10. Even Windows 8 will support native apps written in HTML5. This session will give an overview and a deeper dive into writing effective HTML5 together with your existing ASP.NET experience to create the best next generation web experience.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime is the world’s first tablet featuring the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor and to be unveiled with Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which will be available through an over-the-air update on 12 January 2012.

RRP:

  • Eee Pad Transformer Prime + Docking station: SGD$899 (GST Included) [UP: SGD$1098]
  • Eee Pad Transformer Prime (Tablet only): SGD$759 (GST Included) [UP: SGD$899]
  • Docking station: SGD$199 (GST Included)

First Thoughts:

  • I love how amazingly light (586g), slim (8.3mm), and extremely responsive the device is.
  • Up to 12 hours of battery life, with 18 hours when coupled with the docking station.
  • Super IPS+ screen with 600 nits of brightness – in comparison with the ~400 nits on the iPhone and iPad.
  • 8 MP (f/2.4) rear camera + 1.3 MP front camera – coupled with ICS new camera features like panorama, the camera actually is useable.
  • The sound (SonicMaster technology) is clear and loud, however the speakers are behind so you’ll still have to cup the speakers to hear the audio properly.
  • The NVIDIA Tegra 3 comes with 4-core CPU + 12 core GPU + 1 extra CPU core for low-power processing. This essentially allows the battery life to last up to 12 hours.
  • It is 3D capable. Plug in your Transformer Prime into a 3D capable monitor or TV and you can display your games in 3D (with those 3D glasses) while the games are playing in normal 3D (think 3D flattened to 2D) on your Transformer Prime.
  • My verdict? This is the best buy EVER Android ICS tablet for now (yes, even better than Motorola XOOM 2).

eBay Singapore sellers can start using ePAC via a fully integrated platform at http://apacshippingtool.ebay.com/HomePage allowing them take orders, print labels and track the status of shipments via their “My eBay” account. By using ePAC, eBay Singapore sellers can receive enhanced international tracking and delivery of lightweight goods, not exceeding 2kg, from Singapore to the United States within 6 to 8 working days.

So Singaporean eBay sellers, what are you waiting for? Start using this service and sell! I wonder if there’s also a service for United States to Singapore. Hmm…

LG introduced four new home theater systems at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) equipped with LG’s latest 3D sound technology. Of the four new 3D SOUND HOME THEATER models scheduled for launch during the first half of 2012, the BH9420PW was the first to be unveiled at CES 2012.

The LG BH9420PW incorporates LG’s very own 3D Sound Zooming technology, which constantly synchronizes sound output with the location and movement of the on-screen 3D images on a CINEMA 3D Smart TV. In turn, 3D Sound Zooming plunges the viewer into the middle of the action, as the events that unfold on their 3D TVs immerse and surround the viewers as both images and sound in real 3D.

The LG BH9420PW will hit Singapore stores from April 2012.

ASUS will be offering 200 units of Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime on the official launch in Singapore on Wednesday, 11th January 2012 at SGD$699 (Pad only, normal price SGD$899), at Suntec City Galleria Foyer, from 6.00pm onwards.
